Elizabeth Ameke is an Aeronautical Engineer and PhD researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), working at the intersection of materials, machine design, and advanced manufacturing. She holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Business Certificate from Harvard Business School’s Crossroads Emerging Leaders Program in Entrepreneurship and Launching Breakthrough Technologies. Before graduate school, Elizabeth served as an Aviation Safety Officer and Aircraft Technician at PassionAir, focusing on Safety Management Systems, emergency response planning, and internal auditing.
Raised in Ghana and an alumna of Krobo Girls’ Senior High School (a selective public girls’ school), Elizabeth has been recognized by women-in-STEM and aerospace communities, including features in the Society of Women Engineers’ Women Engineers You Should Know, the Leading Ladies of Aerospace & Defense’s Wonder Woman Wednesday, and She.Leads.Africa's 50 UNDER 30 Rising Motherland Mogul.
Her impact work is hands-on and measurable. As co-founder and Education Director of Ed Emporia, she helps schools deliver practical STEM learning through locally relevant kits, student clubs, and teacher training, reaching over 3,000 learners to date. As co-founder of the GleeChild Initiative, she leads programs that equip children in underserved communities with essential items, including food, clothing, desks, books, and health screenings, supporting over 2,000 children and enhancing their classroom readiness and retention.
Elizabeth also serves as an ambassador for the Akua Kuenyehia Foundation (a nonprofit advancing girls’ education and leadership in Ghana) and for Women in Engineering Ghana, where she mentors students and speaks at outreach events.
When she’s not in the lab or the classroom, Elizabeth is building partnerships that translate engineering into real-world benefits for students and communities.
